Privacy policy
How Choose You collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information.
Last updated: 25 March 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Choose You handles personal information when you use our website, create an account, join membership, book events, use the journal, contact us, or interact with community features.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to visitors, members, customers, practitioners, partners, and other people who use the Choose You website and services.
2. The information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect and store:
- Your name, email address, password-protected account details, and basic profile information.
- Your marketing preferences, newsletter sign-up choices, and unsubscribe status.
- Journal responses and reflection data you save to your account.
- Profile images or other files you choose to upload where that feature is available.
- Forum topics, replies, and other community content you submit.
- Event booking details, membership status, content purchase records, and payment status information.
- Messages you send through the contact form or other support workflows.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser or device details, security logs, and cookie-related data required to run the site.
3. How we collect information
We collect information when you:
- browse the website;
- register, sign in, or manage your account;
- join membership or pay for an event or premium content;
- write and save journal entries or responses;
- post in the forum or upload profile images;
- subscribe to emails or unsubscribe from them; and
- contact us for support or enquiries.
4. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- create and manage your account;
- provide access to the journal, membership, premium content, and events;
- process and confirm payments through our payment provider;
- save and return your journal history and related progress;
- send service emails such as welcome messages, password reset emails, booking confirmations, and account-related notices;
- send marketing emails where you have signed up or opted in, and record unsubscribe requests;
- moderate and manage community areas;
- respond to support requests and contact messages; and
- protect the site, prevent misuse, and improve the reliability of the service.
5. Journal privacy
Your saved journal text is intended to remain private to your account. Text-based journal responses stored in the account system are protected at rest using application-level encryption. We still recommend that you avoid placing highly sensitive information online unless you are comfortable doing so.
If you use a reflection feature that works without a paid account, some of that content may be stored locally in your own browser on your device rather than in your member account until you clear it or overwrite it.
6. Community and public content
Some parts of the site, including community discussions and certain practitioner or public-facing content, may be visible to other users or to the public. If you post in those areas, do not share information you would not want others to see.
7. Payments and third-party services
Payments for membership, events, and premium content are handled through Square. We receive payment status and order information needed to confirm access, but we do not store full card details on our own servers.
We also use third-party services and infrastructure where needed to operate the site, including:
- Square for checkout and subscription or payment processing.
- An SMTP email provider for transactional and marketing email delivery.
- Third-party content delivery services such as jsDelivr and Google Fonts for front-end assets.
8. Marketing emails
If you subscribe to updates, join a mailing list, or opt in during registration or contact, we may send you marketing emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email.
When someone unsubscribes, we may retain limited information such as the email address, date of the request, and technical request data so we can honour that preference and avoid sending unwanted campaigns.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar browser storage to keep the site secure and functioning properly. This includes sign-in cookies, security and anti-forgery cookies, temporary site data, and certain local browser storage used for user experience features. Please see our Cookie Policy for more detail.
10. How long we keep data
We keep personal information for as long as it is reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain records, comply with legal or accounting obligations, handle disputes, and protect the security and integrity of the site.
Different types of data may be kept for different periods. For example, account records, booking records, payment confirmations, and unsubscribe records may be kept longer than temporary website usage data.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction, objection to certain processing, or a copy of the information you have provided.
If you want to exercise a privacy right or ask a question about your information, please contact us through the Contact page. If you are in the UK and are unhappy with how your information is handled, you may also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
12. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information, including access controls, secure sign-in handling, and security-focused application controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the site, the law, or our services. When we do, the updated version will be posted on this page.
14. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your information is handled, please use the Contact page.
